Laura Heinonen studies in Sibelius-Academy, with Anita Välkki as her singing teacher. Her teachers also include Satu Vihavainen and Liisa Linko-Malmio. Ms. Heinonen has also participated master classes of Tom Krause and Irina Gavrilovici and studied with Hedwig Fassbender and Mitsuko Shirai.

On opera stages, Ms. Heinonen has sung the Witch's role in Purcell's Dido & Aeneas, Mercedes's role in Bizet's Carmen, Ida's role in The Bat by Johann Strauss, Jr. She also performed as Brunelda in the praised production of Juha T. Koskinen's Finnish contemporary opera Brunelda - The Heart Of America. In autumn 2004 she sang Woodsprite's role in Dvorak's Rusalka at the Helsinki Festival. Ms. Heinonen gives lieder concerts, sings in oratorios, passions and gala concerts and is regarded as a captivating interpreter and an exceptional performer.

Lieder are a particular passion of Ms. Heinonen. She has studied this art with Hartmut Höll, Ilmo Ranta, Gustav Djupsjöbacka, Collin Hansen, Eero Heinonen and Antti Hotti.

In 2004 Laura Heinonen won the 1st prize (joint) in Kangasniemi Singing Competition and took part in Lappeenranta and Timo Mustakallio Singing Competitions. In 2005 Heinonen sang in the finals of Merikanto-competition. In March 2006 she sang in the orchestra finals of Robert Stolz-competition for Wiener operetta amongst nine finalists in Hamburg. 90 singers from 23 countries took part in the competition.

In addition to her career as a singer, Ms. Heinonen works as a correpetitor in operettas and musicals (such as Annie Get Your Gun, 70, Girls, 70, Cabaret, Viktoria And Her Hussar, Desert Song, Countess Mariza, The Gipsy Princess).

Laura Heinonen also works as a voice coach to several choirs and ensembles.
